Traveling enriches your spirit and can teach you many things. Whether you bring back stories of amazing sights, interesting history, “oops” moments, or traveling disasters, your adventures will provide many wonderful memories that you will share again and again with friends and family. This is a fun story that I like to tell about a time some girlfriends and I took a cooking class from Susan Herrmann Loomis in Normandy. It makes me laugh every time— enjoy!
One time my girlfriends and I spent the night in Louviers. They had swollen ankles from traveling. We asked our hostess Susan to write on a piece of paper what their complaint was to give to the French pharmacist. They purchased Preparation H! So the next day we went back to Susan and told her our story, and she phoned another pharmacy and explained in French what the ailment was and sent us on our way. The ladies bought Preparation H again! Believe it or not, they tried again at a pharmacy in Paris to get help. Third time’s a charm; and now they each had a tube of Preparation H! I don’t know if it was actually making the swelling go down or not, but watching them rub Preparation H on their ankles every night while we enjoyed our wine, laughing and reminiscing about the day, created a memorable impression. Ooh la la!
