A refreshing jog in the forested park Bois de Boulogne can be the perfect break during a trip in the city. At the western side of the 16th arrondissement, this park is the second largest in Paris and dates back to the mid 1800s. It’s more than twice as large as Central Park in New York City, and has over 2,000 acres of terrain to explore.
On my trip to the park on a Sunday at midday, locals and tourists alike were out enjoying the scenery. What I most appreciated about the experience was how easily one could hop on a trail and explore other areas of the park to get away from the noises and the bustling people. There was even a babbling creek and spot to sit where I enjoyed some moments in nature alone.
Despite the area’s reputation as a popular place for a romantic tryst, it doesn’t appear that this will affect you during the park’s popular visitor hours. Families on bikes, joggers and walkers on leaf-covered trails, views of open grassy fields, and the architecturally stunning Foundation Louis Vuitton will be your companions rather than those seeking a clandestine rendez-vous.
